New Construction, School Building and Sports Hall
School Building: 5,688 m²
Sports Hall: 2,266 m²
Architect: Jaakkola Arkkitehdit
Responsible Structural Designer: Patrik Laakso
Structural Design Project Manager: Patrik Laakso
Complexity: Class V+

The old school building and multipurpose hall on the site were demolished to make way for a new school building and sports hall. The sports hall also includes support spaces and civil defense shelters. Construction began in autumn 2023, with the campus set to be completed on schedule in 2025. The installation of the load-bearing frame is expected to be largely completed by spring 2024.

School Building

  • The structural frame primarily consists of precast concrete elements, with supplemental steel or composite structures in specific areas.
  • The design emphasized a high degree of prefabrication to minimize on-site construction phases and reduce installation time.
  • Collaboration with the architect and client ensured the building’s design supports flexibility and long-term usability.

Sports Hall

  • The load-bearing frame combines cast-in-place civil defense shelters, a ground floor slab, and precast concrete elements.
  • The roof structure uses TT-slabs for auxiliary spaces and long-span HTT-slabs for the main sports hall, effectively implementing a ridge-shaped roof design.
  • The exterior wall envelope comprises insulated and coated steel panels.

The project exemplifies a balance between prefabrication for efficiency and design adaptability for long-term functionality.
